For example we can calm the central nervous system simply by learning to slow down the breath and breathe from the belly. This is why those with hypertension (high blood pressure) can benefit greatly by practicing this simple yoga breath that you will see demonstrated below.
Many of my students have reported that they were able to get off their blood pressure meds by practicing yoga. But even if you do not have high blood pressure, who amongst us cannot benefit by learning to relax at will?
